Ableton and Serato announce The Bridge

Ableton and Serato are proud to announce The Bridge at NAMM 2010 in Anaheim, California. The Bridge spans the gap between music production and DJing, creating a natural link between Ableton Live and Serato Scratch Live/ITCH. The Bridge provides a powerful fusion of DJ and production tools, opening a world of opportunities for DJing, remixing and live performance.

The Bridge works in both directions;

Ableton to Serato

The Bridge provides Ableton Transport Control (ATC), giving DJs turntable-style control of their own multitrack productions. DJs can simply drag an Ableton Live Set onto one of the decks in Scratch Live or ITCH and use their turntables, CDJ or ITCH controller to control the transport.

Serato to Ableton

The Bridge provides the ultimate mixtape creation tool. DJs can perform mixes in Serato Scratch Live or ITCH and save them as an Ableton Live Set. This way, the DJ can still perform the mix—better than cut and pasting it together in a DAW—but also has detailed editing options.

A release date hasn’t been set yet, but we hope its soon.

Eddie Leader Feat Red Eye - Brace Yourself [Hudd Traxx]

Eddie Leader teams up with Dallas Vocalist Red Eye (Robsoul / .Dotbleep) & Manchester’s Moodymanc (2020 Vision / Dessous) for a techy affair that’s receiving support from the likes of Josh Wink, Milton Jackson, Laurent Garnier & Charles Webster amongst others. The original is a tough deep house track which will also raise a smile from Techno fans. Eddie uses moody keys and twisted stabs  accompanied by Red Eye’s slick vocals and live percussion from Dubble D is thrown in for good measure. Dubble D adopts his Moodymanc alias for the remix and pulls out a sound reminiscent of MAW drums and a Mr Fingers bass line cutting up the vocals nicely for a dubby effect. Leader also throws in a bonus track that would work nicely in the early hours. Hudd Traxx have been on a roll as of late and this is more of the same.

DJ Feedback;

Josh Wink: Great ep! Like the dub and the Brace yourself original. Deep and tweaky!

Milton Jackson: Liking the Moodymanc dub here thanks

Charles Webster: mm mix is nice…like the way he uses the vox etc

Agnes: Full Support on my side !!! love the acid filled bassline on Red Eye Brace  Yourself

Laurent Garnier: yes yes , this sounds great, would love to play this out

David August - Sweden Roof [Stil Vor Talent]

After his huge success of the summer that was “Trumpet’s Victory” only 19-year old kiddo David August is back on Stil vor Talent with his second EP: “Sweden Roof”. “Sweden Roof” is also the title track on this two-track EP that is about the funkiness of house music and the glorious moments of melodies. A cut up vocal sample dominates the groove until we can hear why David August is more than a producer, but a musician after all. The great organ melody will have whole floors swinging along to this monster of musical raffinesse. This sound is like crack, once you try, you want more of it. Now! And luckily there is. Feeding our addiction on the flip is “Soul Kitchen”, an even more organic piece of tech-house-niceness. Clap snares, pianos, a deep male vocal sample and equally as much sex appeal as dancing at the carnival in Rio. This is soulful house music and it doesn’t get any better. These two new tracks show that David August is no one hit wonder. “Sweden Roof” proves how deeply David seems to be in touch with house music - and the dancefloor!

RELEASED - Monday 15th February

Mike Monday - Yoppul [Get Digital]

Seasoned producer, musician and DJ, Mike Monday has always been at the forefront of the UK’s electronic music scene.  His skills have been honed and developed through years in the late 90’s spent producing a variety of styles of music.  Heavily influenced by the Dubstep and Funky scene, “Yoppul” has the ethnic sounds of London written all over it.  Its warm drums sounds, hefty bass and quirky melodies epitomize Mike’s signature sound and are a tribute to the soundtrack that is currently ruling his city’s streets.   ”Touch” reaches with one hand back to the classic good old-days, while the other hurls it into the now. Pedigree bred with only the best beats, tantalizing arrangement and an uplifting quality that can only put a smile on your face.  Good innovative and forward-thinking House music is out there; sometimes you just have to know where to look.  Luckily, with guys like Mike Monday around, you don’t have to look too far.

RELEASED - Friday 12th Feburary

Mr.C - Lunar Ep [Wagon Repair]

It has been five years since Mr. C’s last solo EP, having focused his song writing attention during this time on working with his production partner, Adultnapper, on their Sycophant Slag’s projects. Mr.C wanted to make three tracks that really reflect his days (and nights) as a DJ. This meant working in minor chords to get the desired depth. The EP starts with Waxing (working title Waxing Moon) a spaced out yet soulful, warm & rich track, with the tempo set at 122bpm. Waxing starts with a simple rhythm & then the layers of deep chords & bass line with spaced out tones come through. With Full Moon, the chord structure of the bass line sits more comfortably with the pads, stabs & melodies - a beautiful last track of the night or sunrise piece. Dark Moon comes in with a pitched up the tempo to 126bpm, losing all of the deep chords, pads & melodies but keeps the spaced out aspect of the original & then proceeds to make the tune dance with a pumping bass line, techy bleeps & some nice dark pads.

Exercise One - Several Things at Once EP [Wagon Repair]

Wagon Repair is pleased to welcome Exercise One to our roster, with their newest EP – Several Things at Once. This four track EP, with a bonus digital only track, is sure to please.  Title track, Several Things at Once lays out a groovy foundation and lets the machines do their thing, this intentionally rough and dirty sound is able to be accessible and seducing at the same time.  The A2 track, Breeze, was inspired by windchimes on Marco’s balcony, resulting in an almost early era Aphex Twins ambient feel.  Colony, is a subtle track that seems to accumulate power by winding itself into the mind and body of the listener.  Whenever this one is played in front of a crowd it always has a great impact as its psychedelic and focused elements mix to great effect.  As with the digital only bonus track, Twin, a trippy feeling lurks around with a kind of ‘submarine’ atmosphere.   Prowl is more of an tensioned atmosphere than a track.  Prowl is mainly based on sound-shifiting and old samples that are intended to transmit the mood of a predator in search of its prey.  The digital only track, Twin, has a chunky, upfront bassline for a foundation, which drags you into the track like a strong under current.  Little sets of percussions  and delayed chords fly through the track to keep the mind focused  while the body is already hooked to the groove. Pretty in your face  and trancey, but just so much fun to play!
